Conventions and Techniques- Jump-Cutting JW
A jump-cut is a cut in film editing which shows two different shots of the same subject. It’s as if the camera ‘jumps’ to a different shot of the subject this is why this technique is known as a jump-cut. Jump cuts are considered a violation of continuity editing as they jump to a different shot in a discontinuous way. Jump-cutting also emphasizes editing which is another reason why it is considered a violation of continuity editing as the idea of continuity editing is to make editing discreet.
